Ascent Trip ReportThis is a great hike and scramble.
The first of part of the hike to Red Pine Lake is easy. You should get to the lake in 2 hours or so.
From there, you go up to a higher basin, where there are many routes (including a very popular one) that go up to a high saddle, where you pick up a nice trail that brings you to a class 3-ish knife’s edge. The knife’s edge is easiest if you stay on top of the ridge.
After the knife’s edge, you go up a ridiculously steep class 2 ridge, which, from a distance, resembles the famous ridge on the Matterhorn.
This is a busy peak. Lots of young people scrambling up and down this mountain. |
