Ascent Trip Report

After a 20.4 mile the day before, today was the day that called for Cascade & Porter. I arrived at the trail head parking around 7am and there were already 8-10 cars there. Passed a few people on the way up. Just before the summit of Cascade a couple was coming down and told me I had the summit all to myself. I raced the rest of the way up and enjoyed about 10 minutes of peace & quiet. I had a nice chat with a steward on the way down. He was expecting about 100-150 people today.

I then went on to Porter. After chatting with a nice couple at that summit, they started to head down and, again, I had the summit to myself for about 10 minutes. I began my descent and that's when I saw the crowds really starting to arrive. I'm glad I started early. I was the first person to check out for the day. Glad to get these peaks done on a Friday. No way was I going to do these on a weekend.
