Ascent Trip Report

Practice day for Mt. Blanc, getting acclimatized and re-familiarized with crampons and ice axe. Took the early morning cable car up to the top of Aiguille du Midi.

The descent to the plateau was already quite challenging. Some narrow ridge sections. Going across was no problem. There seemed to be some very narrow but deep cracks that were easy to cross.

Heading up to this point was more challenging. A section towards the bottom was harder ice and the guide used an ice screw to belay us up. Across the top was bare rock that was a bit trickier to cross with crampons.

GPS recording is a little wonky for some reason, but we definitely made it to the local high point around here as I was able to reconfirm based on the photos.

Didn't realize the elevator up to the summit of Aiguille du Midi was free from here, so I'm disappointed I didn't get that actually summit ticked off too, but walking around the observation area to all the different view points was spectacular.
