Ascent Trip Report

After Laurel I continued across the ridge to Mellenthin following an obvious trail. The descent to the saddle before Mellenthin was straight forward. Ascending the talus trail, after the saddle, up to the summit of Mellenthin was even looser and even more unstable than that of Mt Laurel. Staying on the trail, even when dim, was the best approach. The summit of Mellenthin is a big rounded top. I've added the day's mileage and time from the TH to Mellenthin and back as it was the furthest summit I hiked. On the return I followed the lower use trail around Mt Laurel and then the higher use trail around the un-named rocky point. They would be my trails of choice if I ever returned.
