Ascent Trip ReportAfter our amazing Kintla climb (see Duncan’s trip report), we spent the night at the trail crew spike camp, and celebrated with our friends who were on hitch there. The next morning we moved our camp up to Boulder Pass, one of the park’s most coveted backcountry campsites. Once camp was set up Conor and I set off over the pass and on one of the most scenic sections of trail I’ve ever hiked- the so-called ‘hole in the wall’. We then climbed Chapman via the steep but straightforward gully on the south face. The views of Cleveland, Kintla, Guardhouse and especially Waterton were amazing. Another great peak and a long approach so I’m glad to have found the energy to get up here. The whole trip was 60 miles and 13k ft gain over 4 days. Best Glacier trip yet! |
