Ascent Trip ReportTBA
I'd definitely say I'm more of an alpine climber than a sport climber ... and I have no crack climbing skills (on top of a not fully recovered wrist from my deer bike crash); nonetheless Frison-Roche was a route Derek was talking about all week, and a classic at that. Thanks for the solid lead, Derek.
Route description: 200m meters of climbing on the steep wall underneath the summit of Le Brévent, aka another climb that ends at the cable car. Ah-mazing. Pitch 1: 6a (5.10a) face climbing where I saw a lady in a roped team of 3 freak out at the crux; looking at her gave me doubts that made me super anxious before the climb. Pitch 4: a 6a (5.10a) dihedral to Pitch 6 another beautiful dihedral, with cracks from off-width to finger, which Derek loved.
The crux of the climb for me was pitch 4 where I tried to hand + knee jam, them hung because I got too tired. Everything else was great to follow. The other crux of the climb was getting to the start, which involved a short snow hike and a shitty wet grassy slope.
