Ascent Trip ReportWe got to the trailhead by driving up Whitehouse Canyon Road off of highway 1. It is a few miles north of Ano Nuevo, and unmarked. It is less than a mile south of Rossi Rd., which is marked. Whitehorse Canyon Rd is marked if you zoom in sufficiently in Google Maps. If you search Google Maps for Whitehouse Canyon Road, Davenport, CA, the place marker is way out on Whitehorse Canyon Road, a little short of the trail head parking lot. The road continues on, but is in private land and marked no trespassing beyond the trailhead parking.Whitehouse Ridge Trail ascends very steeply to the right from the parking lot, ascending about 1300 feet in a mile - a real butt kicker for me, 25-35% grades, but almost entirely in redwood and fir forest. Beyond that flattens out and soon on to Chalks Truck Trail a gravel road to the summit. Distance is an estimate.
