Ascent Trip ReportThe hardest part of this trip is finding out the best place to start. AllTrails has several trails with Montara Mountain in the description. The destination is North Peak, and is called "Montara Mountain Trail" in AllTrails. We started from San Pedro Valley Park in Pacifica: https://parks.smcgov.org/san-pedro-valley-park-trails, 600 Oddstad Blvd. There is a $6 admission fee which includes parking and a trail map. From there start up either Old Trout Farm trail or Brooks Creek trail. They join. It is a steady ascent and quite a bit of shade. The round trip is just under 7 miles. This was the shortest route we could find.
We did this as part of a two peak trip, this was day 1, on way to Pigeon Point Hostal, where we stayed, and then did Chalk Mountain the next day. Good beer at the tavern in Pescadero. |
