Ascent Trip ReportNote to self (and other future summiters): When standing at the base of the pinnacle, collecting oneself for the tricky bits, and after having had a good hard look at how under cut the pinnacle is on the west side, it's less than inspiring when you look up and watch the clouds ripping over the summit moving toward the east. The whole thing produces an optical illusion where the pinnacle appears to be falling away from you to the west, which it eventually will. Somewhat disconcerting. Scrambled up anyway. Not hard but not a walk in the park. After looking over the other side and seeing several large-ish rocks rolling down the west face, seemingly having started right at the base of the overhang, I declared victory and skeedadled.
Route is more than adequately covered in the previous reports. Saw a fox high on the mountain, which was a bonus. |
