Ascent Trip ReportDropped my car at the Liberty Springs parking area and was picked up by Gannon Taxi Service to take me to the Kinsman Ridge Trailhead on Rt. 12. I had never used a taxi service to get to a trailhead. The driver was a couple minutes late, but that didn't bother me. The fare was $11 plus a generous tip. They're a new company in town, I'll be using them again.
Today's goal was to hike the AT from Rt.112 to Rt.3 while bagging Mount Wolf for the YMCA Alpine list and North Kinsman for the Trailwrights 72 list. It was warm day, which was to be expected, but the humidity wasn't bad. Being a Friday I didn't expect to see a lot of people on the trail between 112 and South Kinsman, but to my surprise I came across 15-20 people. Maybe 3 of them were thru hikers.
I had read that the trail had a lot of PUDs. It did, but they weren't too bad. The summit of Mount Wolf had some nice views from the outlook, but the real views were to be had on South Kinsman. A bit of hazy day, but I could see for miles. I walked right over the summit of North Kinsman. It had 7 years since I was last there, so I forgot about that. The rest of the hike down was uneventful until the very end when I spotted some trail magic where the AT meets the bike path. I think it had just been placed there as it clearly hadn't been touched by anyone. Great day overall.
