Ascent Trip ReportHired guide Tyler Logan from the Sierra Mountain Center in Bishop, CA. for this one as we weren't too sure of the route to the summit given everything that I read about this hike once we were above 12,000 feet. It's quite remote in this area of Nevada so having a guide provided us with extra comfort.
Tyler picked us up at the Inn at Benton Hot Springs where we were staying at 5:00 a.m. He drove us in his 4x4 truck to the upper Queen Mine trail head at the Kennedy Saddle. Rough road, but he navigated it really well. Then setting an excellent pace so we could easily acclimate to the altitude. Started hike at 6:30 a.m.; it took us approximately 4:15 to summit Boundary Peak leading us over unmarked trail and rocks above 12,000 feet. We stayed on summit for 30 minutes; signed summit register, took summit photo with Boundary Peak sign that was in ammo register box, found benchmark. Then headed down to car in approximately 3:15. Spectacular views all day. Approximately 9 miles; 4,000 feet elevation gain. An 8 hour day. U.S State Highpoint #41 !!
