Ascent Trip ReportEntered Long Path from Route 10 (parked in pull off on side of road). No sign where to enter, so had to look around through the trees to find a state sign and Long Path markers. Easy to follow the path to Pisgah. There is one reference marker pointing to true summit (flat rocky surface with names and initials etchings). Returned to trail, followed it to Richtmeyer. Short walk off Long Path to true summit (large rock, no marker found). Headed to Richmond true summit. Harder to locate, required a bushwhack up a hill. I took a waypoint on GPS so I would know where to return to. Found a more defined path upon return. Went to waypoint and Long Path signs were nowhere in sight. Circled around several times unable to locate Long Path. Tried using GPS points and AllTrails back to Richtmeyer and Pisgah. Somethings was not right and ended up just heading due east to waypoint to my auto. It took me to some area of development. Made it back to Route 10, but the return to my auto was from the opposite direction. Way off course. |
