Ascent of San Gorgonio Mountain on 2010-07-11Others in Party: | Harlan Stockman Ken Eversmeyer Will ??? Lou Kovacs Dave Weidner Dave ???
| Date: | Sunday, July 11, 2010 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | San Gorgonio Mountain | Location: | USA-California | Elevation: | 11499 ft / 3504 m |
Ascent Trip ReportThis was a long but very scenic hike. Even in mid July, wildflowers were in spectacular bloom.
Since the Dry Lake trail is less steep, I recommend using it to ascend and the Dollar Lake trail to descend. Also, this allows for, if one is up for it, bagging additional peaks on the way down with out really going out of your way (Jepson Peak, Little Charlton Peak, and Charlton Peak).
All trails were exceptionally well maintained and graded to have no more than moderate slope. |
