Ascent Trip Report

Additional peak on my Hickory Nut Gorge personal challenge. A not so hard grassy road walk and bushwhack from Blue Ridge Pastures to the NE.

Follow the grassy track below the Blue Ridge Pastures to another open area and then back into the the woods. Reach Strawberry Gap after about .3 miles. From there you and your GPS are on your own your own. I followed the path of least resistance, turning away from the Henderson-Buncombe County Line and following a more gentle slope to the forested summit of Ferguson Peak. May have better views in Winter. Sharp drop offs to the east down to US 74-A.

Return hike to Bearwallow Gap was lonely, but more interesting as I followed the beautiful open grassy areas to the south of the HP of Blue Pastures which meets the dedicated trail some .4 miles from the summit.
