Ascent Trip Report

One-day ascent. Camped the night before at Whitney Portal, started hiking at 1 am. There are a few short, exposed snow crossings on main trail. Mountaineering boots and poles were sufficient for me; some might be more comfortable with microspikes and ice axe. Snow should be gone in another week or two. Water running over trail in some places, but always found rocks or logs to step on so that water was never above ankle. No water above Trail Camp - I used 4 liters from Trail Camp to summit and back, and ran out near bottom of switchbacks on this hot day.
