Ascent Trip Report

Me and my buddy Ryan took our 8 and 6 year old boys out for this peak. Wanted to stick to something short and easy walking. This fit the bill. The 4x4 driving in from Spooner Pass was pretty light. The dirt was soft in some places and after keeping my Tacoma in 2wd for quite awhile, finally hit a hill that I couldn’t get up and had to engage 4WD. Nice thing was the Genoa Peak Rd. Was marked on my Toyota Navigation system, so it was very easy to follow. Parked at the turnoff up the Genoa Peak Spur Road so we could get a small hike in. Had the summit to ourselves for a bit. Spent about 40 minutes on the east side of it eating lunch. While there multiple trucks, quads and dirt bikes made their way up to the top of the road. The views were fantastic. Found the summit register directly beneath the benchmark. For all the traffic this peak gets, I was surprised to find a brand new register with only one entry from 2 weeks prior. Made the quick hike down to the truck and headed over to South Camp Peak.
