Ascent of Alaska Mountain on 2019-07-20

|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5745 ft / 1751 m|
Ascent Trip ReportAfter Mount Thomson, I had plenty of time and wanted to make use of the long approach. Took the PCT to the pass east of Alaska Mountain. Was tempted to take the open fields south of peak but opted for the east ridge remembering a trail to the summit labeled on some maps. Hindsight says those open fields would go pretty easily. Once at the pass east of Alaska Mountain, followed the rock on top of the ridge for some fun class 3 action. Had to downclimb a couple times to get around gullies. Could easily stay off the ridge and follow a shallow boot path to the summit. After summit photos, I bombed it straight south down the open fields to the PCT and then turned on cruise control for the 7 mile trip back.
