Ascent Trip Report

15 miles of canoe in to Lobster Lake using the West Branch of Penobscot below the damns at class 1 rapids then still water all the way to Lobster Stream then to Lobster Lake then to Odgen Cove campsite (it was 2 miles across the lake). Campsite was course sand beaches with cedar and larch on the beach. Interesting geology. Nice view of Lobster Mountain range and Spencer behind it.

Spent night and was eaten alive by mosquiotes, gnats, horse flies and deer flies and noseeums. Sweltering hot in tent. Rained that night. Great dinner of steak on campfire.

Next morning paddled another 2 miles to Jackson Cove and hiked up Lobster Nothr Peak. Trail well marked and maintained. Nothing exciting on way up but the overlook was beautiful at top. Had lunch returned. Trip out was 7 miles plus the cove.

Total canoe was 15+2+2+7 = 16 miles. Total hike was 3 miles.
