Ascent Trip ReportWeather looked good in this area so Charlie and I headed to the Ice Lakes to climb North Spec.
Had some difficulty following the trail between Leroy Basin and Ice Pass - there are several cairned routes through here. After 10 or so trips through here you'd think I know the way but apparently not...
Nice plunge-steppable snow on the descent from Ice Pass to Upper Ice Lake, otherwise the route was pretty much snow free. The best route is to the west of the upper lake's outlet, class 2.
The route from the lower lake to North Spec is easy and obvious, nice class 2 hiking. Great summit views especially of Fernow and South Spec. Ice Lakes is a wonderful place, I'm sure I'll return at some point...
