Ascent of Whitman Crest on 2019-06-22
|Date:||Saturday, June 22, 2019|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||9323 ft / 2841 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe trail was snow free until the last mile before the Summerland camp and restrooms. We went up on the steep slope to access the glacier, present at the bowl to the east of the Meany Crest. While coming down, one needs to be careful to time it so that the snow is not too soft or hope for good steps to walk down this slope. We walked down the valley as much as we could to get closer to the snow-free trail and switched to walking on the trail back to cars.
