Ascent Trip ReportGiven that it was Friday, the day after Independence Day, I thought the park would be jam packed with visitors.
Drive up from Sacramento, arriving at the entrance around 11, the fourth car in line to pay entrance fee. So not much wait there.
Even the Lassen Trail parking lot had plenty of open spots. 10-20ft of snow near the trailhead. Lots of families with kids sledding around and sliding down the snow.
Upper parts of the main trail are mostly dry with some large snow patches on north-facing slopes. Slippery in the afternoon as it heated up. Most people didn’t bother with micro spikes though they would be helpful on the few sections. Overall a fun quick day trip. |
