Ascent Trip Report

Access: Google Maps took me along the easiest route from Pine Bluffs, WY. Some of the roads are excellent dirt roads and the final road is rougher, but fine for sedans. The final stretch is on bison grazing lands so they may be in your way. On the way back the entire herd was blocking the road for a good fifteen minutes. I idled towards them, which caused a few big males to turn and stare me down, so I stopped. Seemingly for no reason, they all stampeded off at some point, finally allowing me to pass. Very weird. It should also be noted that Panorama Point is on private land and a $3 fee is requested by the land owners. Please respect their property since they have very graciously allowed access.

The Climb: I got out of my car and walked 10 feet to the summit marker. I didn't see anyone else during my fifteen minute stay at the summit.

My Thoughts: Climbing all the state high points is my top peakbagging priority at this time so this was on the list, but it is completely unremarkable in every way possible. Sure, the views are decent, but better views can be found elsewhere and far closer to civilization. Still, state high point #26 in the books.

I am always looking for climbing partners, so feel free to contact me if you want to team up.
