Ascent of Mount Evans on 2019-07-02Date: | Tuesday, July 2, 2019 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Car | Peak: | Mount Evans | Location: | USA-Colorado | Elevation: | 14264 ft / 4347 m |
Ascent Trip ReportJoined with another solo climber to ascend Crystal Couloir(Steep Snow) in great condition. Left TH at 07:07 and had mostly hard snow, with some pockets of unconsolidated snow. Only party on the North Face of Evans. Joined the tourists on the trail to the final summit at 09:45. Descended the North Face proper (Moderate Snow) on skis. The snow was very wet and supportive at 10:30. My new found partner glissaded down behind me. The skiing was sloppy corn with exposed rocks up high, but amazing once I got the feel for it and the slope opened up. Packed up the skis again and hiked out to the trailhead. Got back to the car at 11:22, and beat the impending doom of grey thunderclouds. |
