Ascent Trip Reportwith Justin and MB. Really awesome trip. started 11am Saturday from trailhead. Reached camp at Summerland 2.5 hours later at leasurely pace. Slept as much as possible until 12am. Went back to bed on a concensus vote and woke back up at 2am. Left camp by 3am and started up toward Meanie Crest. Tagged 9300ft peak on Whitman Crest on the way there. Reached little Tahoma by 12pm and returned to summerland 4pm after 13.1 hours moving time there and back. Back to trailhead maybe 7pm.
Good way to spend the Solstice. Watching the lines of headlamps 2am on both the cleaver and Emmons was mesmorizing and made us wish we were climbing Rainier instead, but by the end of our trip, I was extremely glad we'd done little Tahoma. We've been up Rainier before and this was a very worthwhile adventure in it's own right. Little T is highly visible from Seattle, what a special place to go. the summit scramble at the end and long glacier travel there and back make it a totally excellent trip.
