Ascent Trip ReportAfter climbing Mount Madison via Valley Way Trail to Madison Spring Hut, then to summit and back, we decided to go for Mount Adams. Took Gulfside Trail from hut to Airline Trail. Climbing over rocks and boulders for 1 mile in approximately 1 hour, we reached the summit of Mount Adams. Gorgeous views, beautiful weather. Enjoyed the summit with a few other hikers for 30 minutes before heading back down to hut for another rest stop. Then took Valley Way Trail back to trailhead and car. Total miles approximately 10.6; a bit over 9 total hours on trails. Mount Adams was #47 out of the 48 AMC and New Hampshire 4,000 foot mountains. Only 1 more to go for our Achievement Scroll and Patch !!!! |
