Ascent Trip Report

considerable snow this year, although it was patchy enough that i resisted putting on crampons because i'd just have to take them off again shortly after. most of the snow wasn't risky enough for such things anyhow. the water flowing over the dam was above my boot tops, but i just put my gaiters on and went fast enough to avoid water making its way in.

gorgeous views. i'm quite happy i forced myself out to enjoy the snow covered peaks. a reward for enduring months of bad weather.

on the way down i was able to glissade a few times, cutting various snow-covered switchbacks.

overall i followed marcus' sierra route, going around the lake to the north side on the outbound leg, and the south side on the return leg.
