Ascent Trip ReportThe weather forecast predicted good weather so we were prepared to go further north and do a bigger peak but other afternoon commitments kept us from doing more today. We've saved Tecumseh for a day like this so we prepared the night before, left at 4am, grabbed a quick breakfast at our favorite spot and were on the trail by 7am.
There was one other couple with a very nice dog (Bernie the Bernese Mountain Dog) who we hiked with on the way up. We took the traditional route up from Parking Lot #1 along the Mt Tecumseh Trail. The morning was cool and the bugs were few on the way up along Tecumseh Brook. Wildflowers were in full bloom as well. Once we got up to about 3500' we ran into the remainder of this winter's monorail. It had been warm enough so that we could avoid it for the most part and once we got onto the ridge trail there wasn't much snow, just some muddy patches. The view was excellent and we had the top to ourselves for 20 minutes to take pictures and identify peaks. After enjoying the view I found the geocache near the peak.
Headed back down the Mt Tecumseh trail and took a short detour out to the views on the Sosman Trail and flew the drone since there was almost no wind and no one around. The trip back down was even faster although down low near the brook the black flies had started to emerge and we ran into a steady stream of hikers on their way up.
This is 33/48 for me and 25/48 for Emily.
