Ascent of Double Peak on 2019-06-09Date: | Sunday, June 9, 2019 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Car | Peak: | Double Peak | Location: | USA-Washington | Elevation: | 6199 ft / 1889 m |
Ascent Trip ReportI led this for the Mazamas- party of 6. We followed Tim Hagan's GPS track pretty closely as well as game trails. No major problems. The Devil's Club is just starting to leaf out- the large patch at ~4000' was tedious to cross, but not too bad. Snow begins around 4500'. The upper gully has several large snow patches, but not continuous snow. One patch covers the width of the gully and is unavoidable, but the others can be bypassed. We were able to kick steps, although icy in a few spots. Warm day, so post holing back through the basins was slow going on the descent. |
