Ascent Trip ReportHigh point #9 and finally another non-solo accent. I had climbed Ohio's Campbell Hill earlier in the morning by myself after getting up at 6:00 AM in Versailles and driving the hour and back to Campbell Hill but returned to Versailles to finish watching some ultimate Frisbee and pick up the rest of my car after the tournament was over. Thankfully, the games were done early so we could leave sooner then I had hoped as we had a ~10 hour drive back to Memphis, TN.
We packed up our wet, soggy camping gear from the nights rain and grabbed a few more famous chicken dinners from the illustrious Poultry Days Festival and headed out the Hoosier Hill for a picnic on the high point. The drive took about 30 minuets, heading west out of town on Ohio-47. We turned onto Indiana-227 just after the state line and then on to County Rd 100 and Elliot Rd where the high point is. The car load was myself and ultimate friend from Chattanooga, Raley and his new fiance Emily. We found the turn off for the high point although the sign had been stolen so we drove past it once.
Taking the few steps from the car to the high point we were greeted with a picnic table, registry box and small stone cairn, all recently built by a Boy Scout for his Eagle project. We had a nice chicken dinner picnic, snapped our photos and took off back south to a land where tea is sweetened and Coke means carbonated beverage.
This was Raley's second HP (CO's Elbert) and Emily's first. Not sure if I won over any converts
