Ascent Trip Report2019-06-02
Easy Pass TH to summit. Snow stared at 4,700 feet. Good crampon conditions. From Easy Pass ascended and traversed snow slopes northwesterly to gain the connecting ridge to Kitling Peak. After two short, steep and exposed traverses on snow slopes, we gained the ridge by ascending loose 3rd class rock steps. We scrambled the ridge all the way to Kitling Peak's south ridge proper. At Kitling's south ridge col, we ledged under the steep rock at the toe of the ridge and entered a steep, loose, third class gully that took us up and back to the south ridge proper. By staying on the ridge or just to the west (left) of it, we easily gained the summit. At times we ledged around steep blocks and short steep towers in order to stay on 3rd/easy 4th class rock. It was good 500 feet of scrambling to the summit. Enjoyed a beautiful day on top. Descended after much lounging and peak naming. Returned to trail head via ascent route. Good snow conditions. Rock scramble was dry.
