Ascent Trip Report

Some reports suggest it is a bushwhack to get to this CoHP from the summit of Rice Peak. I found the easy route with almost zero bushwhacking. Start down the NE slope from the summit of Rice Peak following an old fire break or jeep track. It goes straight down and is fairly grassy, but clear of brush. This "trail" does not drop directly down to the CoHP, staying to the east of it as you descend. After about 175 feet of descending, the trail hits a long abandoned dirt road that turns left (west), now heading almost directly towards the CoHP. I followed this path in a downward traverse until reaching the vague north ridge. At this point you are only 100 feet or so above the CoHP. Follow the cleared, grassy path down the north ridge for 100 feet or so and the CoHP will be off to the left (west) about 15-20 feet among some trees and a little brush.
