Ascent Trip Report

Skied Ruth. Attempted the Ruth-Icy traverse, but after reaching the Ruth-Icy col, we were concerned about the rapidly-softening snow. There is apparently a summer trail to the col, but it was partially snow covered with thin slow above a very bad runout. The route went, but we did not feel comfortable letting the snowy sections bake in the sun any longer. On the ski down, we were hoping to drop down into the Ruth creek drainage to bypass Hannegan pass, but the snow was discontinuous through unknown terrain, so we retreated back to the standard route before committing to skiing down the valley.
