Ascent Trip Report

Short easy/moderate climb.

Today is the start of a 10 day hiking trip to NH, the main goal being the Peaks on a number of PB Lists, such as "NH 52 with a View". Rose and I left home early this morning arriving in the area around noon hour. The plan was to take in a few short climbs on this first day.

The first scheduled climb was the Sugarloafs, southeast of Twin Mountain.
From Twin Mountain Hwy junction #302/3, travel east on #302 for 3.5km to the Zealand CG on the right. Drive straight over the Ammonoosue River, on asphalted Zealand Road, for 1.5km to the TH parking and a Self-Service-Pay Station on the right, just before the bridge over the Zealand River. Pay the 3$ user's fee.

The Sugarloaf Trail starts across the bridge on the right, it climbs .9 miles to the col between Middle and North Sugaloaf ..... to the left it is .4 miles to the summit of Middle Sugarloaf and to the right .3 miles to the North Sugaloaf summit. Both summits offer a great 180 degree panorama to the south ...... 3.2 miles, 1 1/2 hour RT for both summits.

From here we drove south on #302 and on to the second climb of the day "Iron Mountain".
