Ascent of Roy Mountain on 2019-05-25
|Date:||Saturday, May 25, 2019|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||2103 ft / 640 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe west side of Roy Mountain is part of a wildlife management area. I approached by car on Jewett Brook Road, from the north. The road is maintained for only a short distance south of the junction with Roy Mountain Road. I started the hike at a large grassy camping area, just south of the point where Jewett Brook road crosses the brook. A wide path continued beyond the east end of the grassy area, and after a while the wide path turned into more of a single-track hiking trail. I left the trail somewhere around 1100' and hiked steeply up Roy Mtn, from the SW, through very nice open woods. There were some cliff bands to navigate around.
