Ascent Trip Report

This is surprising that neither LOJ or Peakbagger had this in the database. A careful examination of its rise showed it would be another 300 foot prominence peak if the peak next to it (also with a closed 8120 contour) was actually larger as the connecting saddle in this closer direction has over a 300 foot rise. More importantly, it is right off a main forest trail. My GPS logged this summit slightly lower than Peak 8120 and thus, I entered this in the database as well and bushwhacked it. Karen stayed with the dog as I grabbed this extra credit by storming up the ridge from the obvious trail. I was basically following the GPS track that Alyson Kirk posted on LOJ. But at the saddle of the trail that skirts around this peak you run up and tag it. I have a GPS track of the all the hiking for this day but it exceeded the file size that can load in here.

The peak had far less views than Peak 8120 as it was wooded but, the fire did not affect this hill. Despite it looking heavily treed, there is no subcanopy so the bushwhack is a breeze. There was a small cairn on the summit so someone has run up there before.
