Ascent Trip Report

Was in Bremerton for work for the day so Becca suggested I find something to snag after work over there. Green Mtn was the second most prominent bump on the Kitsap Peninsula after Gold, which we have already bagged, and it was not too out of the way from either the Naval Hospital or my ferry home, so it made for an idea destination. Plus, it is a bit out of the way unless you are in Bremerton for some reason; if we take the Kingston-Edmonds ferry, the Olympics are the destination, not here.
Anyhow, the trail was absolutely beautiful in the forest, with all of the rhododendron trees in bloom, causing many pauses for pictures. The official summit is the high ground to the far SW corner of the microwave towers, but definitely outside the fence. There are annoying corner fences that force the hiker to walk down and around them to come back up to the true summit. The lookout site has fantastic views of Seattle and the Puget Sound, well worth the stroll over there. Overall, a wonderful hike that I was able to make into a very scenic loop. Highly recommended when in Bremerton! Pics
