Ascent Trip ReportI had 5 days off work this weekend and I had already decided to go bag a few peaks on my lists.
I originally was to leave on Friday but I unexpectedly was asked by a supervisor at work if I was willing to go take a park familiarization tour with SÉPAQ. I was basically taken out on a park visit on Friday as I accepted.
During the preceding week, Luiza proposed that we go together so I had a hiking partner. This was looking like a terrific weekend! I prepared all my stuff and on saturday morning, we left Québec City aboard a InterCar bus headed towards l'Étape. It's a boon the buses stop there. We arrived around 9:45am and started walking almost instantly.
Heading north along highway 175, we walked about 3.5km until we hit the service road. From there it was an easy uphill stroll until we arrived at the summit. I took a picture of the benchmark, and as I had planned, we surveyed our next step, which was to head for a trail indicated on my topo maps that wound its way down the south slopes of this peak's twin.
