Ascent Trip ReportA really fun day ascending this minor but rugged peak.
Also a family adventure, as we went up with our 6-year old daughter. This was her 2nd Adirondack peak.
We went up via the Giant's Washbowl trail. The views along the way are excellent and varied. The entire landscape around the Chapel Pond and Giant Mtn is dramatic and rocky, as if hewn out of granite by..well, giants.
This trail is rugged and arduous but short. There is essentially no approach and one starts to gain altitude sharply right from the road. In that sense, it proved to be more interesting than many larger objectives in this range.
