Ascent Trip ReportA hot spell of weather came to an end as I drove home to Basel on a Sunday night, ready for work the next week. A short diversion across the border into France took me via the villages of Mijoux and Lajoux to the minor road running high across the south east flank of Cret Pela. About 500m east of the high point of the road, a trail (part of the GR9, marked with red & white dashes) runs west to the summit. A trig point plus a wooden stake with a sign on top (Cret Pela 1495m) confirm that you've arrived. A light rain was falling and cloud arrived just in time to obscure the view, which was open only in a southeasterly direction, the rest of the area being covered in dense pine forest. |
