Ascent Trip Report

Strava: “What do we do if we see a bear?” “Go Bears!” - Louie

Beautiful day! Sunny and pleasant (maybe 50-60 degrees F). First snow sighted at 3100 feet, snow became pretty consistent on trail around 3400', put snowshoes on at 4100'. Saw 2 hikers ascending Black Tusk and 2 hikers summiting Panorama Ridge right as we were turning back. Then saw a few more folks who had likely hiked up to Garibaldi Lake. We all sunburned due to the minimal clothing (shorts and a t shirt for most of the day!), bright sun, and reflective snow.

There were solid tracks to the saddle where we turned back (about 250' below the Panorama Ridge summit). There were no tracks above this point which indicated that no one had been to the actual summit in weeks. We attempted to scramble up the snow but there were lots of signs of avalanches on either side of the ridge and we decided it would not be worth it to attempt.
