Ascent Trip ReportI parked on Lassiter Mill Road at the gate for Forest Road 6521. There is a sign on the gate indicating that the road is closed. Hard to spot the TH which is in a bit of clearing on the east side of Lassiter Mill Road perhaps a half mile north of Ebenezer Church Road.
The old forest road quickly enters forest and passed the remains of a second gate and a road that branches to the right. Stay straight. The forest road will shortly descend to a crossing of a 2 foot wide stream and then ascend to a cleared area and saddle between Black Mt and X726. After quickly ascending X726 I returned to the road and made my way of the trail-less slopes Of Black. Travel was easy thru mixed hardwood and evergreen. No underbrush to contend with. I arrived on top the ridge-like summit area. A high fence (10 feet?) surrounds the home that sits on the high point of Black Mountain. That high point appears to be just a few feet higher than the public lands ground on which I stood.
I returned all the way back to the second gate site and hiked along that second road (FR 6522 on the topo) until it arrived at another homesite. Would have had to bushwhack around that site. Chose not to and simply returned to my car.
