Ascent Trip ReportCableline to determine if my bandaged toe blisters from RR will remain calm and my out of the box brand new very ninja style all black Garmont mountaineering boots will be just as good for me as the trekking version I lucked into....
Left work about 5:15 and traffic wasn’t bad at all. Started at 5:53pm and arrived 58min later. Ninja boots felt great!!!! I think I’m a go for this weekend Colchuck NBC road walk and all. I love Garmont!!! I wish more places carried them. Blisters were no issue on the up but I felt the left big toe going down...the blister bandage seems to have squished some. Might just have to bring extra bandages and redo a few times. Also will try tape to secure instead of the wrapping bandaid.
Odd not having Ava so no calling or wondering but no tongue out but wiggling leg shaking head tilting happiness either. Saw several runner types, a few dogs including a chunky visual who seemed tired and came right to me and some others also wearing heavy mountaineering boots. Been a long time since I’ve been here and the trail felt much wider and very trail-like and not so scramble. Wondering if work has been done to help bury the Cableline as my memory from the last time is that it was very exposed and the trail eroding everywhere. The new offshoot to the right at the worst erosion close to the part where you cross the other trail to the top is no longer new...it’s very obvious to go that way now and quite broken in.
A beautiful evening to be out and with recon a success I’m left ready for more...now to try and figure out packing Sue’s hyperlite pack...snowshoes and all
