Ascent Trip ReportA big thank you to whoever sprayed the yellow marks to guide people up and down!
I got slight altitude illness (mild nausea, light-headedness) - luckily only fifteen minutes short of the summit - so I toughed it out and felt better fairly quickly on the descent. Not surprising considering that I was sleeping at sea level.
In contrast to many other TR's, I did meet an oncoming car on the long single lane road while driving down from the observatory parking lot. It was raining, but happily I saw the other car (an astronomer coming to work in the late afternoon?) thirty seconds before we met, so I had time to find a pull-out on the sharp volcanic rocks and avoid a collision.
All that said, it was still an enjoyable hike: no shortage of volcanic rock to ponder!
