Ascent Trip ReportFrom Castle Valley, directly climbed south face of Castle Peak to gain its west ridge. We had snowshoes but crampons would likely be a little better. We would have more stable footing and less sliding down. The snow was fresh and soft so there was little risk of long fall. However, once on the faux summit the traversal to the true summit was covered in the hard snow (and crampons and ice axe would be required). So we stopped at the faux summit (the most west of the three peaks) which was where all the hikers on that day turned around, as we did not see any foot trail to the true summit.
