Ascent Trip Report

Like Micheal Wanberg ahead of me...I took the wrong road and ended up with an unnecessary bushwhack. So this is an easy 300 foot prominence peak to obtain, not sure why more have not attempted it. On the way back from Long Mountain on the gravel road NW Bacona Road there is a wye intersection for NW Buxton Lookout Road and it too is a nicely graded gravel road. It has to be as it provides access to the radio towers on Buxton Hill or Green Mountain depending on what map. You take the road to where Lookout Road because a muddy wet puddle mess and park before that. The maintenance road up the tower is in excellent shape but it is gated so you have to earn it. There is a road that turns left and straight up that I thought was the way to the top and a flat road to the right. I ended up hitting the same dead end that Micheal Wanberg hit and had to bushwhack to the summit. If one takes the road to the right, there is no bushwhacking necessary. The GPS track will show both clearly
