Ascent Trip Report5.8 mile road/trail/bushwhack run up Philbrick and Coburn Hills. Parked on G H Carter Drive and ran out to the soccer fields and then along the power lines with intentions to make it out to Sandown Road via the power lines. I know it may be difficult seeing the wet areas along the power lines on Google satellite. I got across two very wet areas without getting too wet, but the third one was just too wet/deep to cross in the colder weather. I took an ATV trail along the power lines heading back and found a trail in the woods which turned out to be an ATV trail that wasn't that distinct after getting past an obvious party spot. I decided to bushwhack from there to try to get the Philbrick Hill through the woods. I came across another ATV trail and took that and eventually came to a nice woods road. The woods road hit a non-crossable wet area at the end of a pond in Danville Town Forest so I turned around an took an ATV trail that skirted around the other side of the lake. I came to another woods road and followed that since it was going directly towards the hill. It ended up at a house at the end of Sudbury Road and there was a swampy area so I backtracked to find a way around the swamp and after a short bushwhack, I was on another old woods road (this one completely overgrown with small trees) but it passed through the swamp and got me to the other side. I then went through some somewhat open logged areas and over to the hill and then bee-lined out to Sandown Road. I ran the roads until I was next to Coburn Hill and climbed straight up it from the road. I then followed a gentler slope down and encountered a nicely maintained trail just below the summit. I'm not sure where it starts, but it did not go back to the road so I bushwhacked out and then ran back to the car.
