Ascent Trip Report

An easy ascent from the Col de Prat de Bouc, which is reached using a minor road running southwest from Murat. Plenty of parking at the col. The GR400 (signposted) runs from here all the way to the summit. The heather and moorland, soft spring snow, mist and drizzle made me feel like I was in Scotland in the spring (perhaps around Glenshee somehwere). Two ptarmigans high up on the ridge did little to dispel the notion. The summit had some steepish ground leading up to it which was not improved by the wet snow and then suddenly I hit a wooden staircase which would have seemed bizarre had I not already seen one on Puy de Sancy a few days earlier..
