Ascent Trip Report

moderately/steep climb ...... 5.9km, 2h20 RT for both Peaks.

The mountain operated by the County has a good network of well used/maintained trails, maps are available at the entrance, there is a 6$ entry fee.
I chose a counter clockwise loop, ascended on Le Button trail going over Le Button (southeast peak) on way to the main summit (4.2km) and descended on l'intrepide trail (1.7km). Both trails are moderate at the bottom but steep on the upper part, in particular the l'intrepide trail which is much worse ....... it requires some scrambling at a number of places, it's safer to ascend by this trail. There is a shelter at the col's trail junction.
The main summit ridge is a beautiful long-open-rocky-rough-ridge with an outstanding vista, the Highpoint is capped with a stainless steel cross. This summit reminds one of the summits in the Adirondacks/Whites, nothing like the Peaks in the rest of the Cantons de L'Est. A great destination for a hike.

DIRECTIONS TO THE MAIN ENTRANCE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN.
From hwy #55, exit 71, between Sherbrooke and Drummondville, travel north on hwy #249, at Wotton pick up #216 east to Saint-Adrien. Make a right (southeast) at the church on #257 and continue for 7.8km to the Mont Ham Main Entrance on the left (continuing south on #257 it is 4.2km to Ham-Sud). This is the south side of the Mountain and your TH with plenty of parking, there is a 6$ entry fee.

"WINNERS TAKE TIME TO RELISH THEIR WORK ...... KNOWING THAT SCALING A MOUNTAIN WHAT MAKES THE VIEW FROM THE TOP SO EXHILARATING."
