Ascent Trip ReportVia Mandarangan Trail near Kidapawan-Magpet, total round trip approximately 19 miles, with 6400 feet of gain with the usual fog, strong wind and coolness at the summit areas. You must obtain a permit and a guide but a porter is optional for the 2 or 3 day trek. However you must then carry everything up for the guide and yourself, including food and tent with a sleep over at Lake Venado basecamp for yourself and the guide!
It can be hiked in one day if you are a strong Peakbagger but the normal process is at least 2 days of which was my trip.
Jungle forest hike with narrow paths, high grass, steep tree route paths and areas using tree branches for ladders up other steep areas. Increasing modern wooden and steel railing bridges. Primitive camping at basecamp and no toilets on the entire route however they are in the process of making some toilet rest stops. |
