Ascent Trip Report

So I originally thought about Laguna Wilderness for my long run, although it seems the trail was closed with the exception of a few mountain bikers on the trail. I decided to head for Blackstar Canyon with the thought of Pleasants. The parking lot was surprisingly full of vehicles, headed down the road crossed a few mud puddles here and there, said hello to a few hikers. I believe the majority of these hikers are heading for the Falls. After passing the Maraposa sign i began to pick up my pace just a little. I thought maybe I could do it quicker or something, Not with these climbs. After passing through the valley it was the grind to the Main Divide and the Doppler where I had a short break. I continued up the the divide just getting my climbing pace, just continued with some great view of IE and OC. I reached the tower summit had a 1.79 tiger bar, then decide to continue down the single track to the main divide. At this point I decided to do the 11 mile turn around and head back, I figured the sunset would be a few hours away. Nothing unusual on the way down, need to work on my down run, I don't want to trip so I kinda slow down. There was two mountain bikers on their way up blackstar I thought about those climbing gears they have. I did stop at the trail head to Blackstar Falls and decided to hike to the falls, well, not a great Idea,. It was getting really dark and I'm not to familiar with this trail so I turned around and hiked back to the road and continued my run to the parking lot. I had a lamp so it wasn't that bad. just got cold and dark and I was at 20 miles. maybe next time when I have more day light. I know that most of the times I turn around, cautious of me, the next time when I get to the same area I find out it was just around the corner..great 23 miles, kinda cold, bring my gloves next time. wet shoes :-) :-) just want to say thanks for those taggers who mark the boulders, makes it easier to hike back. hey there is that blue question mark, guess you cross the stream here.
